DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Crisis Response Team

Volunteers

 

As part of a program to respond to the needs of victims of domestic violence, with the assistance of the Jersey Battered Women’s Service and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, local Municipal Police Department’s are seeking volunteers.

 

These volunteers will become part of a Citizen Response Team to assist investigating officers in domestic violence offenses. The team will provide support for victims and their families’ as well as provide effective intervention immediately following an incident.

 

The Chatham Township Police Department and the Crisis Response Team are enlisting the aid of the community to play a significant role to end Domestic Violence. Our Officers cannot do it alone and we need your involvement. Please consider joining our efforts to make the community a safer one for all.

 

Crisis Team members will meet victims at police headquarters to:

 

  • Explain the Domestic Violence Act and its components.
  • Identify the social services that can assist the victim.
  • Refer to the Jersey Battered Women’s Service.
  • Explain the dynamics of domestic violence.
  • Provide emotional support.
